If you'd like to forward a domain that you have to some other domain address or subdomain, the best way to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain address being forwarded loses all its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain address it is directed to. That way, if you use a web design service by some company that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain and not only will it be directed to the site which you have created, but it will also be displayed in the web browser address bar at all times. Some other possible uses of a CNAME record are to forward all the traffic from different subdomains to their main domain address, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain since such a record set up for the main domain address renders it impossible to use email addresses.

CNAME Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we offer with each and every shared hosting, will allow you to create CNAME records for any domain name or subdomain hosted inside the account with just a few mouse clicks. If you are not certain how to go about it, you can check out the video tutorial that is available in the CP, read the comprehensive Help article on the subject, or simply contact us and we can assist you 24/7, although it is not likely that you'll experience any issues as all it takes to set up a new CNAME record is to pick a domain/subdomain, type the hostname you're redirecting to, and save the change. The new record is going to be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records enables you to have better control of your domains and website content and our system is simple and user-friendly enough to allow individuals with no previous experience to create this kind of records easily.
