A subdomain is a web address, that's under a main, or a root domain. One example is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every single subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. aside from using the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be totally independent and also hosted by a different service provider. Using a subdomain could be very practical if you'd like to have different web sites which are connected in some way. For example, you can have an online store under the main domain along with a forum under a subdomain so as to provide means for your clients to ask questions and / or share experiences regarding your products. The main advantage of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the sites are going to be separated, so you are able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Each shared hosting plan we provide will enable you to create hundreds of subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks within your hosting CP. They will all be listed in the section in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so you can effortlessly keep an eye on every one of them. Additionally, you can access many functions for any one of the subdomains through right-click context menus - for example, you can view or modify their DNS records, access the website files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you'll also have many options that you can choose from - specify the default access folder, create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or pick if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you'll have is totally up to you because we haven't restricted this feature for any one of our packages.
